graduate from DePaul University in the M.A.
Women’s and Gender Studies program. For the past two years, she has
been researching for a book she is co-authoring with Dr. Irene
Beck and Dr. Beth Catlett on the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic
Violence. Lachrista has been published on and offline, including
Girldrive and the Chicago Write City Magazine.
She lives in Chicago, Illinois. Margaret
Jane
is
the
mother
of two pre-teen daughters. She and her
family live in the United States. Since learning of her daughter's
struggles with body image Margaret Jane has made a quiet commitment to
raising awareness and advocacy about the role the internet and other
media plays in shaping the bodies of teen girls. Her first
article in
the 411 for
Mom's series
offers a glimpse into the
largely unknown influences our grapple with. Follow Margaret Jane's
reflections of the pain, shame and anger her family lives as they find
